One of the most common inquiries our Support team gets is about how our users can set up new smartphones or tablets to check their email. Many of our users have had their settings saved on their computers for years, and many times they’re also using our Internet connections to check email as well. With tablets and smartphones checking their MegaNet-hosted email from their carrier’s wireless network, settings are a bit different however.
In hopes of helping our users with new smartphones or tablets, here are the most commonly required settings when configuring your new device to check your email with us.
For users who have an @meganet.net email address, or a domain name based email that directs to an @meganet.net address:
Server type: IMAP
Incoming server: pop.meganet.net
Outgoing server: smtp.meganet.net Port 587
Both incoming and outgoing SSL Off, Authentication On
For users who have an @cape.com email address, or a domain name based email that directs to an @cape.com address:
Server type: IMAP
Incoming server: pop.cape.com
Outgoing server: smtp.cape.com Port 587
Both incoming and outgoing SSL Off, Authentication On
For users who have a domain based email on our MegaMail/IMAIL service:
Server type: IMAP
Incoming server: imail.meganet.net
Outgoing server: imail.meganet.net Port 587
Both incoming and outgoing SSL Off, Authentication On. Username is full email address (i.e. user@domainname.com)
By using these settings, users will be able to check their email using any mobile device, and send email as well. It’s important to make sure that the server type is always set to IMAP, as that setting keeps copies of the email on our servers so it can be read from any location. If the server type gets set to POP, then email would be downloaded to your mobile device, and it would not be able to be read from other locations or devices.
We hope that you find these settings useful as you set up your new phones and tablets. As always, MegaNet clients can call our Support team toll free at 877-634-2638 for additional assistance when setting up new devices, or you can simply click the contact button over to the right of the screen to reach our Support team as well.
